SOUTH BEND – Mary A. Spencer, 72, of Morris Street, passed away at 10:10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, in St. Joseph Medical Center. She was born July 26, 1925 in South Bend to the late Perry and Lena Tirotta.

On Feb. 11, 1944, in South Bend, as Mary A. Tirotta, she married Joseph W. Spencer, who survives. She is also survived by five daughters, Mary Ann Medlin, Sharon Lee Terry, Josan Marie Spencer, Nancy Kay Smith and Pamela Faye Forizs, all of South Bend; 16dchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Frank P. Tirotta, Paul R. Tirotta and Joseph D. Tirotta, all of South Bend; and by seven sisters, Julia M. Sinkovics of South Bend, Rose J. Ratkay of Niles, Kathryn P. Everly of South Bend, Angela J. Marlin of Niles, Barbara L. Crow of Niles, Sandra F. Cheber of South Bend and Edith I. Lansford of South Bend. Mary worked as a seamstress for Judy Ann Draperies of Niles for ten years retiring in 1978.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Matthew Catholic Cathedral and burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
