SOUTH BEND - James H. Speelman, 75, of South Bend, passed
away at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2008, in his home
surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Speelman was born on July
29, 1932, in New Lexington, OH, to the late John and Nellie (Wilson)
Speelman. He had been a resident of South Bend since 1961.
On February 11, 1951, in Lawrenceburg, IN,
he married the former Shirley A. Boyer. Along with his
wife, Shirley of 57 years, survivors include two daughters, Wanda
Cutting of Mishawaka and Shirley Speelman of South Bend;
two sons, Tony (Kris) Speelman and Donald Speelman, both of
Mishawaka; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; one
sister, Faith Moorehead of Zanesville, OH; and two
brothers, Albert and Floyd Speelman, both of Florida. Two sons,
James H. and Howard A. Speelman, one sister, Doris Baker,
and five brothers, Robert, Clyde, Harold, John and Rodney
Speelman, have all preceded him in death. Mr. Speelman retired in
1982 as a supervisor after 20 years of employment with the Mathis
Machine Company. He served his country with the United States
Army.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m.
on Wednesday, April 16, in the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park,
2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend. Rev. Verlie Manns will
officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 9:00 to 11:00
a.m. on Wednesday in the funeral home. Contributions in memory of
James H. Speelman may be made to the family.
