Mishawaka – Sister M. Josita Specht OSF, 83, of Our Lady of the Angels St. Francis Convent died at 3:45 p.m. Friday in the convent. Sister Specht entered the convent of St. Francis Oct. 31, 1928 and professed her vows on June 29, 1929. She was born Oct. 24, 1909 in Kansas City, Kan., as Mary Catherine Specht. She is survived by two sisters, Bertha Gephart of Joliet, Ill. And Loretta Shaw of Los Angeles and a brother, Joseph Specht of Downers Grove, Ill. She retired as a registered pharmacist in 1985. She served in hospitals in Illinois, Indian, Ohio, Nebraska, Kentucky and Kansas, and served locally at St. Anthony Hospital of Michigan City.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Francis Chapel. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. A wake service will be held at 6:45 p.m. Monday in the chapel. Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
