Sister M. Gregoria CSC, died Tuesday morning
in St. Joseph Hospital. She retired from teaching in 1963 because
of illness. She was born Margaret Loretto Spear in Chicago in
1898, and received her early education at Blessed Sacrament
School and graduated from St. James High School in Chicago. She
received her B. A. degree at St. Marys College in 1919. She
entered the Sisters of the Holy Cross and received her habit in
1920, and made her profession of vows in 1922. During her
community life she was stationed in Washington DC; Alexandria,
Va.; Los Angeles; Boise, Idaho; Woodstock and Danville, Ill.;
Fort Wayne and Hammond and St. Marys Academy and St. Joseph
High School in South Bend. She had resided at the Provincial
House since her retirement. Survivors include a sister, Sister
Edwardette BVM of Chicago.
The requiem high mass will be offered at St.
Marys College in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto at 10
a.m. Thursday, with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery on the
campus. Friends may call at the convent parlors until 8 p.m.
