Edward Frank Soltesz, Sr.

Edward Frank Soltesz, Sr., 75, of South Bend, Ind., passed away on Saturday, March 6, at Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center, South Bend. Ed was born on Oct. 1, 1923, in Chicago, Ill., to Frank and Vilma (Adams) Soltesz of Hungary. Ed and his family moved to Baroda, Mich., in 1943. He worked for the Pullman Standard Car Company in Michigan City, Ind. He retired from the Bendix Corporation after 37 years. Ed was also a proud member of the Armed Forces. Ed made his home in South Bend with his recent wife, Ulla (Hemig) Soltesz, who he married in 1996. He was a member of St. Matthew Cathedral, and of the American Legion in South Bend. Arrangements are being handled by the Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend.

 

Edward is also survived by his former wife and the mother of his children, Irene Soltesz of St. Joseph Mich. Also surviving Ed are daughters, Charlotte (Melvin) Hoyh of Benton Harbor, Charmaine Soltesz of Dallas, Texas, Pamela (Theodore) Jensen, Jr., of St. Joseph, Edna (Jim) Kiser, Sr., of Cocoa Beach, Fla.; and a son, Edward (Cathy) Soltesz, Jr., of St. Joseph. Surviving grandchildren are David (Rhonda) Hoyh of Stevensville, Mich., Susanne Hoyh and Michael Hoyh of Benton Harbor, Mich., Samantha Decker of Seattle, Wash., Chester Decker of Dallas, Texas, Joseph (Carla) Jensen of Dayton, Ohio, Theodore (Susan) Jensen of Grand Rapids, Mich., Edward (Wanda) Krajewski of Merritt Island, Fla., Theresa (Mark) Stephens of Kalamazoo, Mich., Jimmie Kiser, Jr., of Asheville, N.C., Kandy (Mike) Power of Holland, Mich., Brian Keith Kiser of Goshen, Ind., Sarah Soltesz of St. Joseph, Mich., Jason Tanner of St. Joseph and Amy Tanner of South Haven, Mich. Surviving great-grandchildren are Cameron Hoyh, Ryan Decker, Christopher, Joshua, Mystee, Stephanie and Theodore Jensen, Jeff and Kevin Stephens, Jimmie , III, and Christopher Kiser, Michael and Ashley Powers. Edward will be deeply missed by his family and host of friends.

 

There will be no funeral or visitation. A memorial Mass will be held at St. Matthew Cathedral at a later date. Cremation is to take place. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Kidney Foundation.
