Manuel David Solis, 31, of Emerson Avenue, South Bend, Ind., passed away after an extended illness on Tuesday, April 23, in his residence. Manuel was born on March 31, 1971, in South Bend, and was a lifelong resident of the area. In 1991 he graduated from South Bend Washington High School.
On April 15, 1998, in South Bend, he married Christine Gleason, who survives. He is also survived by a son, Carlos Alejandro Solis; three stepdaughters, Nicole, Cecilia and Heather; a stepson, Gilbert, all at home; and a stepgrandson, Jalen; his mother, Esperanza Davis of Texas; a sister, Virginia Solis of South Bend; five nieces, Cecilia, Monique, Cassie, Crystal and Crysta; and by special people, George and Esperanza Campos, whom he called his parents, and Carlos and Alex Campos, whom he called brothers. Manuel loved music, especially singing Spanish music. He was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, South Bend.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, April 25, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a 7 p.m. parish Rosary will be recited. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 26, in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, with Rev. Thomas F. McNally, C.S.C., officiating. Cremation will follow. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637-3437.
