SOUTH BEND - Sister Miriam Vincent Sobczak, CSC, 81, of Saint Mary's Convent, died at 11:25 p.m. Wednesday in her residence.
Sister Miriam Vincent entered the Congregation of Sisters of the Holy Cross, Saint Mary's, on Sept. 4, 1929; was received as a novice on Aug. 15, 1930; and professed her vows on Aug. 15, 1932. She was born Jan. 20, 1915, in Elmira, N.Y., as Cecilia Agnes Sobczak. She was assigned to teaching in elementary schools conducted by the Sisters of the Holy Cross and served at St. Joseph School, Christ the King School, and Holy Cross School; also served in Michigan City, Anderson, Ind., Logansport, Ind., Chicago, Woodstock, Ill., Morris, Ill., Peoria, Ill., Harvard, Ill., and Flint, Mich.; and served as a dietitary aide for St. Joseph's Medical Center and medical records clerk and print shop. She is survived by two sisters, Elizabeth Ostafinski of Detroit and Leona McEwin of Boise, Idaho; and a brother, Leonard of Coldwater, Mich.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Church of Loretto, Saint Mary's. Burial will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Saint Mary's. Friends may call after 3 p.m. today in the church, where a wake will be held at 7 p.m. Hickey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
