SOUTH BEND - William Snyder, 58, of Fairmount, Ind., formerly of South Bend, died at 12:54 a.m. Thursday in his home after an illness. Mr. Snyder was supervisor of maintenance services at Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester, Ind. He retired after 22 years as director of building and grounds of Marion School Corp. from 1963 to 1985, and was also assistant city engineer for the city of Marion, Ind., from 1985 to 1986. He was born April 25, 1936, in South Bend.
On Oct. 8, 1955, he married Irene Russell. She survives with a daughter, Sheryl Stair of Fairmount; two sons, Kenneth of Fairmount, and William D. of Jacksonville, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and his parents, Harold and Helen Kaser Snyder of Sebring, Fla.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Hunt Funeral Home, Fairmount. Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Fairmount. Friends may call until 9 p.m. today in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester.
