Vicki Lynn Smith Snyder, 55, of South Bend, Ind., died at 2:55 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at her home surrounded by her family. Vicki was born Sept. 21, 1947, in Benton, Ill. She graduated from Benton High School before continuing her education at Southern Illinois University. She completed her education at the University of Pittsburgh where she earned a Masters Degree in Medical Records Administration graduating with honors. Vicki was a resident of Syracuse, NY, for nearly 20 years where she lived, worked, and raised her family.
In 1997 she relocated to South Bend, Ind., where she served as Director of Medical Records for Memorial Hospital. Her move to South Bend was primarily motivated by the fact that it brought her close to her family in the Midwest. However, she grew to love the Michiana area because of the wonderful community and the friends that she considered to be her extended family. Vicki loved spending time with her beloved grandchildren, family, cats, and friends. She enjoyed hiking, camping, and canoeing. Her hobbies included woodworking, traveling, and riding Harley-Davidsons.
She is survived by two daughters, Melissa Snyder of Mason, Ohio, and Cindy Adamek and her husband, Tom of Champaign, Ill; three grandchildren, Ryan Snyder, Toni Adamek, and Alexandra Adamek; parents, Victor and Betty Smith of Champaign, Ill.; sister, Linda Snyder and her husband, Terry of Champaign, Ill., brother, Russell Smith of Champaign, Ill., niece, Erin Romeiser of Durham, N.C.; nephew, Brent Snyder of Raleigh, N.C.; and extended family in Southern Illinois.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, at the Rend City Baptist Church, Rend City, Ill., with Rev. James Kerley officiating. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the services at 10 a.m. She will be laid to rest at the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery, Benton, Ill. Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home of Benton, Ill., is in charge of arrangements. A memorial services will beheld at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, at the Memorial Hospital Chapel, South Bend, IN.
