Kenneth Owen Snyder, 79, of Emmons Road, South Bend, Ind., died at 7 a.m. Sunday, May 22, 2005, in his residence. Mr. Snyder was born May 8, 1926, in Mishawaka, Ind., to the late Earl E. and Maude (Meek) Snyder, and was a lifetime area resident.

On June 11, 1944, in Osceola, Ind., he married Ruth E. Steele, who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Kathleen A. (Brent) Sonner of Wakarusa, Ind.; a son, Randy (Cheryle) Snyder of Mishawaka; eight grandchildren, Anthony (Robin) Snyder, Sheila Snyder, Andrea Snyder, Melissa Snyder, Cassandra (Peter) Keller, Nathan (Jodi) Courtney, Vanessa Courtney and Cassidy Bessler; a great-grandson, Aiden Courtney; and one brother, Earl L. (Nancy) Snyder of Mishawaka.

Ken was a member of the Roseland Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses for 31 years, having been baptized in 1974. He served the congregation faithfully as an elder and in many other capacities. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend and will be greatly missed by all of his family and many friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 28, in the Roseland Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 52248 Laurel Road, South Bend, with Elder Nehemiah Hardiman officiating. Cremation will take place at Michiana Crematory. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today, May 25, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road.
