Sister Mary Katherine Snider CSC, 65, of Saint Mary’s Convent, died at 7 p.m. Sunday in St. Joseph Medical Center, South Bend, after having been ill four weeks. She was born on July 21, 1917 in Fort Wayne and entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Holy Cross at St. Mary’s on Aug. 2, 1937.She was received as a novice on Feb. 2, 1938 and her first profession of vows two years later. She served in elementary schools for 43 years, serving as principal for 23 years. She was assigned to Holy Cross Elementary and St. Joseph Grade Schools in South Bend, and in elementary schools in Anderson; Elkhart; and Valparaiso. She also worked at schools in Illinois and Iowa. She was participating in a spiritual renewal program at Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, when she became ill and was transferred to South Bend.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Our Lady of Loretto Church, with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery on the St. Mary’s campus. Friends may call until 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until services at St. Mary’s Convent parlors. A wake will be at 7 p.m. today.
