SOUTH BEND - Lonny Vincent Smudzinski, 59, died Tuesday in Memorial Hospital. He served his country in the United States Army from 1968 to 1970 where he received the National Defense Medal and two sharpshooter badges.

Survivors include a brother, Greg Smudzinski; a sister, Sandy (Smudzinski) Whisman; nephews, Keith and Tim Whisman; nieces, Michelle (Whisman) Hall and Lisa Whisman; three great-nephews and four great-nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Gladys, and by a brother, Terry.

Friends may call from to 2 to 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, 1827 E. Ireland Road, South Bend. Cremation will take place and there will be no funeral services.
