Services for Claude N. Smorse Sr., 52, of Salt Lake City, Utah, formerly of South Bend, who died Tuesday, were held Thursday in Salt Lake City. Smorse was born June 10, 1919 in South Bend. Surviving are his widow, Hildred M.; two sons, Claude N. Jr. of South Bend, and Charles of Kenner, La.; a daughter, Mrs. Joseph Newsom of Redondo, Calif.; six grandchildren; six brothers, Charles of LaPorte, George of Baltimore, Md., Cecil, Floyd, Lloyd and James of Florida, and a sister, Mrs. Alice Mawbary of Indianapolis. Smorse had been employed by the South Bend Public Transportation Corp. 12 years.
