SOUTH BEND - Louis E. Smogor, 88, of
East Edison Road, died at 6 p.m. Monday in his home after an
illness. Mr. Smogor retired in 1973 after 10 years as an
architect and licensed professional engineer for Charles Cole and
Son. He also was a former South Bend building commissioner. He
was born Dec. 24, 1906, in South Bend, and was a lifetime area
resident.
On June 29, 1937, in Ann Arbor, Mich., he
married Klementene K. Kendziorski. She died Jan. 19, 1994.
Surviving are three sons, Louis E. Jr. of Greencastle, Ind.,
Robert F. of South Bend and Howard A. of Reston, Va.; two
grandchildren; and a sister, Janette A. Smogor of South Bend. He
was a 1929 graduate of University of Michigan, a member of St.
Hedwig Catholic Church, the Elks, American Legion Post 357, and a
Navy veteran of World War II.
A memorial service will be at a later date.
Private burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. McGann Funeral
Home, 2313 E. Edison Road, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial
contributions may be made to the church.
