Marion E. Smith

August 10, 1916 - December 22, 1976

 

Marion Earle Smith, 60, of 1909 Elwood, died at 10:48am today in Memorial Hospital, shortly after admission.  He had been employed by the South Bend Postal Service for 25 years.

 

Born on August 10, 1916 in Webster City IA, he had lived here for 40 years.  On January 2, 1938, in South Bend, he was married to Hazel Brinley, who died in 1962.  On October 9, 1968, in Niles MI, he was married to Virginia Syson, who survives, along with a son, Chester E; a daughter, Mrs. Shirley Davis; both of South Bend; four grandchildren; 11 step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren.

 

Friends may call form 2 to 9pm Thursday in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William.

Funeral Notes

Services for Marion E. Smith, 60, of 1909 Elwood, who died Wednesday, will be at 1pm Friday in the Welsheimer Funeral Home with Norman Martin, pastor of the First Seventh-day Adventist Church, officiating.  Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.  Friends may call from 7 to 9pm today in the funeral home.

 

Among the survivors are three stepdaughters, Mrs. Carl Cochoran of Miami FL, Mrs. Roland Jacobs of Sacramento CA and Mrs. Gene Borolov of Michigan City.  Smith was a member of Local 330, National Association of Letter Carriers.
