South Bend – Lucile E. Smith, 78, formerly of Park Jefferson Apartments, died at 7:35 a.m. Sunday at Regency Place. Mrs. Smith was born April 11, 1913 in Mishawaka and was a lifelong area resident.

On March 29, 1936, in South Bend, as Lucile E. Krumanaker, she married Ernest H. Smith. He died in 1984. She is survived by a daughter, Dianne L.Heeter of Mishawaka; two sons, Ronald D. of South Bend and Donald E. of Nobelsville, Ind.; five grandchildren; and a sister, Cleo Philion of Bruch, Colo.

She was a member of Clay United Methodist Church. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Hollis-Orvis-Palmer Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
