SOUTH BEND - James A. Smith, 47, of West Western Avenue, formerly of 1801 S. Kemble St., was found dead in his home Saturday of natural causes. Mr. Smith was employed by South Bend Lathe. He was born July 26, 1947, in South Bend.

On Nov. 14, 1970, in South Bend, he married Ann Feirell. She survives with a daughter, Tracie Smith of Indianapolis; a son, William R. of South Bend; two sisters, Barbara Phend of Osceola and Elizabeth Monhaut of Valparaiso; and a brother, Emery of South Bend. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of Disabled American Veterans.

Services will be at noon Wednesday in Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Zahoran Funeral Home, where a parish rosary will be said at 3 p.m.
