SOUTH BEND – Harold A. Smith, 86, of 23^rd Street, died at 2:40am today in Greensprings Manor.  Mr. Smith retired form Kindig Brothers Inc. as an outboard mechanic.

He was born November 13, 1908, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident.  On November 11, 1936, in South Bend, he married Irma A. Pauwels.  She survived with two sisters, Ruth Kindig of South Bend and Esther Oberle of Palm Harbor FL; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no services or visitation.  Cremation will take place, with burial in St Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.  Hollis-Orvis-Palmer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  Memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Society of St Joseph County.
