SOUTH BEND - Karen Ann Sloma, 59, passed away on Thursday,
November 13, at 6 a.m. in her residence. Karen was born on
October 24, 1949, in South Bend to the late Alfred and Geraldine
(Bronski) Stachowiak. She is also preceded in death
by three sisters, Judy Newland, Diane Hatton and
Cindy Couch; and by her brother, Jimmy Stachowiak. On May
15, 1971, in South Bend, she married Dennis J. Sloma, he survives
along with their children, Lori (Mike) Kerr of Granger,
Patti (John) Lorsung of McCordsville, IN, and Tim Sloma of
South Bend; six grandchildren, Payton, Brendan, Taylor, Rachel,
Brad and Courtney; her sister, Kathy (Bud) Moore of
Stewart, FL; and her brother, Tom (Brenda) Stachowiak of South
Bend. Karen worked for RACO as a press operator for 40 years. She
was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, and the Roseland
Civic Democratic Club. She enjoyed Notre Dame Women's Basketball,
and spending time with her grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, November 16, 2008, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower road, South Bend, where a rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 17, in the funeral home.
