Douglas R. Slabaugh, 57, of Dale
Avenue in Mishawaka, Ind., died at 11:20 p.m. Saturday, March 1,
in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, following
a long illness due to complications from Crohn's disease. Douglas
was born on May 8, 1945, in Elkhart, Ind., and had lived in
Mishawaka for the last 16 years. He was preceded in death by his
mother, Dorothy (Gentzhorn) Slabaugh on May 17, 2002. He
had worked 30 years for the railroad as a car inspector with
Conrail.
Mr. Slabaugh married the former Barbara Tidholm
in Elkhart on March 20, 1965. Doug and Barb celebrated their 37th
anniversary last year. He is survived by his wife, Barb; his
father, E.C. Slabaugh of Elkhart; a daughter, Sherri (Rocco) Glanders
of Elkhart; a son, Jeffery Slabaugh of Mishawaka; and three
grandsons, Nicholas, Brandon and Dylan; two sisters, Linda
(Terry) Curtis of Vandalia, Mich., and Jane (Jerry) Kroskie
of Ada, Mich.; and by two brothers, Tom Slabaugh of Elkhart and
Jeffery (Jackie) Slabaugh of Grayling, Mich.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today,
March 4, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St.,
Mishawaka. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at
11 a.m. Wednesday, with Rev. Don Comstock officiating. Burial
will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial
contributions may be made to further the research of Crohn's
disease.
