Sister Mary Agneze Simmons CSC

Sister Mary Agneze CSC, 83, of St. Mary’s Convent died the Thursday afternoon after an extended illness. Born July 17, 1888 in London, England as Teresa Simmons, she entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross on Aug. 15, 1908 in New York City. She made her profession of vows Dec. 10, 1910. She taught in secondary schools in California,  Washington DC, and South Bend, including St. Mary’s Academy and St. Joseph Academy. She also had served as supervisor of secondary schools in the Easteran Province of the Order. Survivors include two sisters; Sister Marie Therese CSC of Washington DC; and Sister Agnes Marie CSC of Norfolk, Va.

 

Friends may call at St. Mary’s Convent where the rosary will be recited at 7:15 p.m. today. Services will be held at 7:30 a.m. Saturday in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto, with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery on the campus.
