SOUTH BEND - George E. Sievers, 97, of Mishawaka Avenue, died at 12:03 p.m. Monday in Fountainview Place, Mishawaka. Mr. Sievers retired in 1963 from Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. after 30 years of service in sales.

He was born June 5, 1898, in Synder, Neb., and had lived in South Bend since 1934. On Aug. 5, 1928, in Montezuma, Iowa, he married Mary E. Brownell. She survives with a daughter, Nancy Spivack of Falls Church, Va.; and a granddaughter, Rebecca Spivack of Falls Church. He was a member of Sunnyside Presbyterian Church and American Legion Post 303, and was an Army veteran of World War I.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Hollis-Orvis-Palmer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
