SOUTH BEND - Maxine M. Shuman, 90, of South Bend, passed
away on Monday, Sept. 22nd, in her residence. She was born on
March 12, 1918, in Monticello, IN, to the late Ada (Bridgemon)
and Berlin Cunningham. ON May 27, 1939, in South Bend, as
Maxine Cunningham, she married John H. Shuman Sr., who preceded
her in death on August 16, 1988. Mrs. Shuman was also preceded in
death by a grandson, Dean A. Cherry; a sister, Dorothy McMahon;
and by a brother, Harold Cunningham. Mrs. Shuman is survived by a
daughter, Kathryn (Charles) Cherry of South Bend; three sons,
John H. Shuman Jr., Steven B. (Renee) Shuman and Thomas A.
Shuman, all of South Bend; seven grandchildren and six
great-grandchildren; and a sister, Anne (Harold) Juday of
South Bend. Mrs. Shuman was a retired self-employed seamstress
specializing in draperies. She was a member of Little Flower
Catholic Church, South Bend, and was a Past Royal Princess.
Services for Mrs. Shuman will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 26, in Little Flower Catholic Church, 54191 North Ironwood, South Bend. Rev. Neil Ryan, C.S.C., will be the celebrant. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road, South Bend. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, IN.
