SOUTH BEND - Bertha M. (Buckner) Shula, 95, passed away
Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, in Pleasant View Lodge, Oaklandon. She was
born in Sloans Valley, Kentucky, on December 2, 1912, to John A. Buckner
and Elizabeth Shelton Buckner.
She is survived by her two sons, Robert J.
Shula and T.A. Shula of Indianapolis; and a brother and sister,
Zearl Lewis and Mildred Frick of South Bend,
Indiana; three grandchildren, Robert J., Elizabeth M. and Deirdre
Regina Shula; and two great-grandchildren, Sophia and Donato. The
family would like to thank the staff at Pleasant View Lodge for
their loving care of Bertha over the years.
A memorial service will be conducted at the Crown Hill Cemetery Gothic Chapel on Saturday, February 2, 2008, with calling from noon to 1:00 p.m. and a remembrance service at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to her two favorite charities: The Crazy Horse Memorial, 12151 Avenue of the Chiefs, Crazy Horse, SD 57730; and the First Unitarian Church, 101 E. North Shore Drive, South Bend, IN 46617.
