Richard D. "Dick" Shroyer,
75, of South Bend, Ind., passed away Friday, June 8, in his home.
Mr. Shroyer was born Oct. 1, 1925, in
Huntington, Ind., to Maynard and Zelda (Garretson)
Shroyer, who both preceded him in death. He had lived in South
Bend for 45 years, coming from LaPorte, Ind. He retired in 1983
from the Northern Indiana Public Service Company after 30 years
of service.
On Aug. 2, 1947, in LaPorte, Ind., he
married Dorothy T. Kruesel, who survives. He is also
survived by his children, Karen Vance and her husband, Don
of South Bend, Scott Shroyer and his wife, Fran of South Bend;
three grandchildren, Kimberly Ballin, Matthew Ballin and
Haley Shroyer; three stepgrandchildren, Darcy Craft, Tina
Craft and Cory Craft; two sisters, Virginia Grace and
Marjorie Grace, both of LaPorte; one brother, Ted Shroyer of
LaPorte; and by many nieces and nephews. Mr. Shroyer was a Wabash
High School graduate and a World War II Air Force veteran. He
enjoyed spending time fishing at his cabin in northern Michigan.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m.
Monday, June 11, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix
Drive. Burial will follow at Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte. Friends
may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today, and for one hour prior to
services on Monday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions
may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County.
