SOUTH BEND - Services for Richard ''Dick'' Short, 54, of 1503 Cedar St., who died Sunday in his home of natural causes, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Olivet AME Church. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in Clark's Funeral Chapel.

Mr. Short was employed by South Bend Community School Corp. as a teacher at Nuner Elementary School. He was born Sept. 10, 1941, in South Bend. He is survived by a brother, Marshall Lindsey of South Bend; and a cousin, Dawn LaRay-Horst of Dalton, Ill.

He was a graduate of Indiana University, a former member of the church, organized the ''Dick Short Trio'' and was a participant in the Ethnic Festival.
