Hiram Shirk, age 78 years, Lakeville, this County, died at 11 PM Wednesday following a six-month illness of heart trouble.  He is survived by his wife and four sons, Emanuel and Harry, Cleveland, Ohio; Hiram Jr., Mishawaka, and John, South Bend.  He also leaves a daughter, Mrs. Catherine Winters, of Ephrata, Pennsylvania.  The funeral will be held at the Methodist Church in Lakeville, Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. M. Whitmer, officiating.  Burial will be in this city Cemetery of South Bend.
