James Leroy Shipman

Mr. James Leroy Shipman, 53, of South Taylor Street, passed away following a brief illness at 11:55 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 4, at Memorial Hospital. He was born on Aug. 29, 1945, in Zanesville, Ohio. Coming from Hammond, Ind., in 1995, he moved to South Bend, Ind. He was employed with Radde Investiga-tions and Security.

He was united in Holy Matrimony to Darlene Berry on Dec. 4, 1995, in South Bend. She survives. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Darlene Shipman; three sons, Damien Shipman, Christopher Berry and Anthony Berry, all of South Bend; four daughters, Chrisse, Brenda and Tammy Shipman, all of Hammond, and Amanda Berry of South Bend; three grandchildren; along with a host of relatives and friends. His mother and father both preceded him in death.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 9, at Alford's Mortuary.
