SOUTH BEND - William F. Shinneman, 79, of Boynton Beach, Fla., formerly of South Bend, died Thursday morning in his home after an illness. Mr. Shinneman retired as vice president of South Bend Tool & Die and retired from Alumni Tool & Die in 1976 as president and chairman of the board. He was born Oct. 17, 1914, in Columbia City.

In 1937, in Niles, he married Beatrice Siebert. She died in 1992. He is survived by a daughter, Nancy Gerber of South Bend; two sons, Jack D. of South Bend and William F. Jr. of Arlington, Texas; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Bettie Lanning of San Diego; and a brother, John of LaPaz. He was a member of St. Joseph Masonic Lodge 45, Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend, South Bend Elks Lodge 235, Morris Park Country Club and Eagle Lake Country Club, Edwardsburg.

There will be no services. Cremation has taken place. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery, Niles. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday in Welsheimer Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
