Margaret A. Shingledecker, 73, of Lowell Avenue, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away after an illness at 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 11, in the University Hospital, Indianapolis, Ind. Margaret was born on March 27, 1926, to the late Agnes and John Freienstein in South Bend.

On July 22, 1950, as Margaret A. Freienstein, she married Owen J. Shingledecker in South Bend. He survives. She is also survived by five daughters, Alicia A. MacIsaac of Waynetown, Ind., Kathy S. Hull of South Bend, Patty L. Kobold of Atlanta, Ga., Nancy J. Evans of Louisville, Ky. and Margaret M. Farris of South Bend; two sons, David N. Shingledecker and Gary O. Shingledecker, both of Mishawaka; 21 grandchildren; and by two sisters, Mary L. Freienstein of South Bend and Dorothy A. Harper of Mishawaka.

Margaret retired from Mishawaka School City in 1987, after 10 years of service.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka. A funeral mass will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday in the St. Monica Catholic Church, Mishawaka, with Father Derrick Sneyd officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Osceola, Ind.
