JoAnn Shindledecker, 69, of Rowantree Place, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 4:45 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20, in her residence. Mrs. Shindledecker was born to Herbert and Ethel (Kime) Schott on Oct. 31, 1927, in South Bend, and remained a lifelong resident of this area. She retired in 1988 as an office worker with Preston Trucking following 22 years of service.
On June 18, 1949, in South Bend, she married Wilbur L. Shindledcecker, who survives. She is also survived by her mother, Ethel Wolff of South Bend; a daughter, Kristine DeMeyer of South Bend; two sons, Gary Shindledecker of North Liberty, Ind., and Michael Shindledecker of South Bend; five grandchildren; and a sister, June Batz of South Bend.
Mrs. Shindledecker was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, Helena Rebekah Lodge 72, and of Teamster's Union Local 364.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, in Zion United Church of Christ, 715 E. Wayne Street. Rev. Alva Hohl, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today in Hollis-Orvis-Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, and one hour prior to services on Thursday in the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County, or to the Zion United Church of Christ.
