MISHAWAKA - Frank W. Shide, 78, of 507 W. Lawrence St., died of natural causes at 7:50 p.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph Community Hospital. Mr. Snide retired in 1985 from Mishawaka Municipal Treatment Plant as chief operator after 30 years of service. He was born May 23, 1917, in Rensselaer, and lived in Mishawaka most of his life.

On Sept. 23, 1939, in South Bend, he married Betty J. Stanley. She survives with a daughter, Rebecca Shoff of Richmond, Texas; three sons, Jeffrey L. Mishawaka, Timothy of South Bend, and Curt of Houston; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was a member of St. Monica's Catholic Church. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the church. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St., where a parish wake will be at 3 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or the church.
