Betty J. Shide, 80, of Lawrence St. in Mishawaka, died Saturday February 1 in Southwest Memorial Hospital Houston, Texas. Betty was born in Mishawaka on May 31, 1922, to Harold & Lula Belle (Rowe) Stanley.

She married Frank W. Shide in South Bend on Sept. 23, 1939. Frank died Oct. 24, 1995. Betty retired in 1988 from Burcliff Industries after several years of employment. She was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church. Mrs. Shide is survived by her daughter Rebecca (Randy) Shoff of Magnolia, Texas; three sons, Jeffery (Carol) Shide of Mishawaka, Timothy (Jan) Shide of South Bend, Kurt (Leticia) Shide of Houston, Texas; and 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Eleanor DeCloedt of Mishawaka; two brothers, James Stanley of Bloomington, Ind., and Jerry Stanley of California. Betty loved her children and grandchildren and enjoyed having them come to visit Grandma.

Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4th in Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St., where a Vigil service will be held at 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Monica Catholic Church with Fr. James Stoyle officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities, 425 S. Michigan St., South Bend, IN 46601
