Elaine Sherman

Elaine Sherman, 90, formerly of
Farrington Circle, South Bend, Ind., passed away after an illness
at 2:25 p.m. on Monday, June 15 in Cardinal Nursing and
Rehabilitation Center, South Bend. Mrs. Sherman was born on Dec.
10, 1907, in Bellville, Ontario, Canada, as the daughter of the
late Nathaniel and Lucy (Boland) Duffin.
On April 21, 1930, in LaPorte, Ind., as
Elaine Duffin, she married Robert Sherman, who preceded her in
death on Sept. 18, 1993. She was also preceded in death by two
sisters and three brothers.
Mrs. Sherman is survived by two daughters,
Beverly (James) Barcome and Roberta ''Bobbie'' (Hugh) Tipton,
all of South Bend; six grandchildren, Laura Singleton of
South Bend, Rhonda L. (Chuck) Starks of Searcy, Ariz.,
Jeff (Donna) Van Avermaete, Thomas Barcome, both of
Mishawaka, Ind., Cathy (John) Deitsch and Patricia (Mark) Smith,
both of South Bend; eight great-grandchildren, Stephanie Marcus
of Sebring, Fla., Michael Marnocha, David Singleton, Amber
Zimipelman and Justin Zimpelman, all of South Bend, Austin
Barcome, Erin Barcome, both of Mishawaka, and Cody Starks of
Searcy, Ariz.; and by two great-great-grandchildren, Joshua and
Tyler Marcus, both of Sebring, Fla. She is also survived by a
sister, Marvel Niblick of Osceola, Ind.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time
of service at noon on Thursday, June 18 in the Hahn Funeral Home,
505 W. Eighth Street, Mishawaka, with Rev. Joyce Strieder
officiating. Cremation will take place with burial in St. Joseph
Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind. Memorial contributions may be
