Nicholas John Sherbun, 17, of Blair Hills Court, Mishawaka, passed away Thursday. He was born October 5, 1985, in Mishawaka to Kevin Sherbun and Julia Hess-Sherbun, who survive with his grandparents, John and Mary Hess of Naples, Fla., and Dolores Sherbun of Fort Wayne, Ind. Also surviving is a great grandmother, Irene Hess of South Bend, a brother, Ryan Sherbun of the United States Air Force, stationed in Saudi Arabia and his friends, Chris Stearly, Zach Ernsberger and Doug Shook. He is also survived by several Uncles, Aunts and Cousins. Nick was preceded in death by his grandfather, John Sherbun, who passed away in 1996.

He was employed by Sam Goody and also worked on the Next Generation Page at the South Bend Tribune. Nicholas volunteered with the Community Outreach Program, Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center. He was a member of the Journalism Club and Rugby team at Penn High School. Nick will be remembered for his creativity, compassion and willingness to give to others. His family and friends will miss him.

Funeral services for Nick will be held at 10 a.m., January 23rd, at St. Bavo Catholic Church, Mishawaka, with Father Paul Doyle officiating. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 22nd, at the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 North Main Street, Mishawaka. There will be a brief prayer service held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday evening. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Nicholas John Sherbun Journalism Scholarship Fund in care of Indiana Trust Company, 3930 Edison Lakes Parkway, Mishawaka, Indiana 46545.
