Sister Mary Avita CSC, 87, died in Saint Mary’s Convent Tuesday afternoon after a prolonged illness. She was born Catherine A. Sheeran in Philadelphia, Pa. in 1868. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross in 1890; received the habit in 1891; and made her final profession in 1896. For the greater part of her community life she was at St. Mary’s Convent.

A requiem high mass will be at 6 a.m. Thursday in the convent chapel with burial in the community cemetery. Friends may call in the novitiate parlors.
