Marian A. Shaw, 83, of Generations Drive, South Bend, Ind., died following an illness at 3:41 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29, in St. Joseph's Medical Center. Mrs. Shaw had been employed as a secretary for the Associates Corporation in South Bend. She was born on Aug. 11, 1913, in Ottumwa, Iowa, and had come to the Michiana area in 1926 from Ottumwa. During those years she lived in both Niles, Mich., and South Bend.

On Aug. 1, 1955, in South Bend, as Marian Soderberg, she married George M. Shaw, who preceded her in death on Feb. 17, 1994. She is survived by a daughter, Diane Jenner of Chatham, Ontario, Canada; a son, Donald Soderberg of Farmington, N.M.; six grandchildren, Daniel and Matthew Soderberg, Julie Beasley, Pamela and Susan Wesolowski, and Kimberley Gradeless; and by a sister, Gertrude Hurley of Hawthorne, Nev.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday in the Immanuel United Methodist Church, 1211 W. Ewing Avenue, South Bend, with Rev. David Henry officiating. Mrs. Shaw was a member of the church. Services will conclude at the church and burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from from 4 to 7 p.m. today in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William Street.
