SOUTH BEND - Theodore G. Sharpe Jr., 63, of Perkasie, PA, died on
Friday, March 5, 2010, surrounded by family and loved ones. He
was the beloved husband of Johanna Bratton Sharpe. Born in
Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Theodore G. Sharpe
Sr. and Vivian Keim Sharpe. Growing up the son of an Army
officer, Ted traveled the world. He lived internationally in
places like Italy, the Philippines, and domestically all across
the United States. He entered the U.S. Army in October 1966,
served during the Vietnam War and retired as a captain. During
his time in the service, he was involved in various operations
and battles, which earned him various honors and awards,
including a Silver Star and Purple Heart. After being discharged
from the war, he returned to the Philadelphia area and graduated
from Widener University with a degree in economics. Most
recently, before retiring, Ted was the president and CEO of Penn
Ventilation Company in Philadelphia. He enjoyed reading
biographies, fishing, and spending time enjoying the outdoors. In
addition to his wife, Johanna, he is also survived by his three
children, Lisa L. Sandstrand and her husband, Eivind of Yardley,
Craig J. Sharpe of South Bend, IN, and Christopher B. Sharpe of
Elkhart, IN; and his wife's children, Brendan Corey of
Jenkintown, Conor Corey and his wife, Leslie, of Glenside, and
Bridget Corey of Horsham. He is also survived by his four
grandchildren, Kellen and Brandon Sharpe, Silje and Odin
Sandstrand. His family will receive relatives and friends on
Saturday, March 13, from 10:00 AM until his funeral service at
11:30 a.m. in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 East
Butler Ave. (Route 202 and Sandy Ridge Road), New Britain, PA.
His burial with full military honors will be held at 3:00 p.m. on
May 25, 2010, at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA. In
lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the
Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, 2600 Virginia Avenue, NW, Suite
104, Washington, D.C. 20037.
