Mary Alice Shafer

Mary Alice (Muldoon) Shafer, 82, of
Trowbridge Lane, South Bend, Ind., died Easter morning, April 11,
in her home. Mary Alice was born April 28, 1921 in Fort Wayne,
Ind., to J. Andrew and Marie R. Wyss, who preceded her in death
along with a grandson, Christopher D. Shafer and a sister, Louise
J. Rosenhamer. On April 18,1942 in St. Monica's Catholic
Church, Mishawaka, she married Joseph V. Shafer, who survives
along with two daughters, Ellen C. (Charles) Dettmer of
South Bend and Janet R. (Gene) Sabo of Annadale, Va.; four
sons, Donald J. (Jackie) Shafer of Decatur, Mich., Mark E.
(Debbie) Shafer of Granger, Brian C. (April) Shafer of Plymouth
and David P. (Mary Jane) Shafer of Columbus, Ohio; 13
grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen L.
Diltz of South Bend; and a brother, Paul J. Muldoon of South
Bend.
Memorial services will be held at 12:15 p.m. Saturday, April 17, in the HICKEY Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 17131 Cleveland Road, 289-1000. Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. until services Saturday in the funeral home. Cremation has taken place. Mary Alice was a member of Tri Kappa, Christ Child Society, a 1940 graduate of St. Joseph Academy and attended St. Mary's College. Memorials may be made to Christ Child Society or to Hospice of St. Joseph County.
