Anna J. Shafer, 80, of Oakside Street, passed away at 2 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, in Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Shafer worked as a switchboard operator at Robertson's Department Store. She was born on June 11, 1921, in South Bend , Ind., to Peter and Julia Gyuga. Anna was preceded in death by her two husbands, Arthur C. Grimm and Kenneth L. Shafer.

She is survived by two sons, Daniel A. (Susan) Grimm of Glendale, Ariz., and Terry Grimm of South Bend; three grandchildren, Daniel A. Grimm Jr., Steven A. Grimm and Scott M. Grimm; five great-grandchildren, Brittany, Choloe, Daniel III, Zakary and Ethan; a sister, Julia E. Hetrick of Jacksonville, N.C.; and by a brother, Carl S. Guyga of South Bend.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, March 1, in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue, with Pastor Bud Steadman officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home.
