Elizabeth "Betty" N. Shade, 84, residing on State Road 4, North Liberty, Indiana, passed away at 10:40 a.m. Thursday, May 18, 2000 in Hospice House, South Bend. She was born December 15, 1915 in Lakeville, Indiana to the late Oscar & Maude (Nolen) Donathen and had resided in this community all her life. She retired in 1972 from East Heat-Wirecraft following 10 years of service. On June 6, 1936 in Elkhart, Indiana as Elizabeth Donathen she married Richard Shade. He passed away on November 22, 1998. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Beatrice Roush and Lois Schafer, and a brother Adam Donathen.

She is survived by two daughters, Joyce Cripe of North Liberty, Indiana, and Sandra Rowe of Plymouth, Indiana; a son, Gary (Judi) Shade of Hilton Head, South Carolina. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services for Mrs. Shade will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 21, in Beaver Creek Wesleyan Church, North Liberty. Rev. James Snell, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Cemetery, North Liberty.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, in the Palmer Funeral Home, 314 South Michigan Street, Lakeville, and one hour prior to services on Sunday in the church.
