Sister M. Augustella CSC, head librarian at
St. Mary’s College, died Tuesday noon in St. Joseph Hospital
after an extended illness. She was born Constance Martha
Semortier in South Bend in 1899. She was educated in St. Joseph
Elementary School and at St. Mary’s College. She entered the
Sisters of the Holy Cross in 1917 and received the holy habit in
1918, She made her profession of final vows in 1923. Before
becoming head librarian at St. Mary’s in 1943, she was
librarian at at St. Mary’s Academy. She also taught in the
schools of St. Paul the Apostle in New York City; St. Teresa’s
in Boise, Idaho; and St. Theodore’s in Chicago.
A requiem high mass will be offered at 6
a.m. Friday in the Church of Loretto, with burial in Our Lady of
Peace Cemetery at St. Mary’s. Friends may call in the
convent parlor at St. Mary’s.
