SOUTH BEND – Vendor “Van” Semala, 89, South Bend, died at 6:35 p.m. EST Thursday (Feb. 2, 1995) at his home. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. EST Monday at Holy Family Church, South Bend. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Michigan City. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. EST Sunday at St. Joseph Funeral Home, South Bend. Mr. Semala was born Oct. 23, 1905, in Whiting, Ind. On May 19, 1925, he married Gertrude J. Klosinski, who died in 1964. In January 1965 he married Gertrude Yagelski, who died in 1972. Then on Dec. 30, 1972, he married Henrietta Foldenauer, who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Veronica D. McCluskey, Michigan City; one son, Richard Semala, Michigan City; four step-sons, Lee Foldenauer and Lawrence Foldenauer, both of South Bend, William Foldenauer, LaPorte, and Robert Foldenauer, California; five grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Ed Semala, LaPorte. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County.
