James R. Sego

James R. Sego, 61, of Pear Road, South Bend, died at 10:11 a.m. Sunday in Saint Joseph Regional Medical C enter. He ended his three-year battle with cancer surrounded by his family whom he dearly loved. He was born March 5, 1940, in Waterloo, AL, and lived in the South Bend area for 50 years.

On April 8, 1961, in South Bend, he married Helen Futa, who survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Ann (Lowell) Nelson of South Bend; three sons, James Sego Jr., Darin (Debora) Sego and Richard (Chris) Sego, all of South B end; nine grandchildren, Jennifer, James, Jeff, Jason, Justin, Allen, Ben, Rebecca and Brittney; one great-grandson, Isaac; three sisters, Mary Dewey of Niles, MI, Doris Woodward of South Bend and Frankie Shafer of AL; and one brother, Eugene Sego of AZ. Preceding Mr. Sego in death were his parents, Frank and Ruth (Weston) Sego. Jim was known for his generosity and unconditional love for his family. His favorite pastimes were spending time outdoors and our special "family dinners." He was deeply loved and will be missed by all.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with burial in the St. Joseph Cemetery.
