11, 1920 - Feb. 25, 2009
SOUTH BEND - Ruth Patricia Segety, 88 of The Milton Home formerly
of Blaine Ave. South Bend died Wednesday morning February 25th in
her residence. Born July 11, 1920 in South Bend to the late Louis
and Anna (Paidle) Segety. Surviving to cherish her memory are her
niece Rosemary Barnes of South Bend and dear friend Stanley
Woltman of South Bend. Ruth was a brilliant woman. She received
her B.A. from St. Mary's college and her Master's degree from the
University of Notre Dame in 1956 as the first women to accomplish
this. She taught in the South Bend Community School System at
Monroe school for 43 years before retirement. Ruth made the
Milton home her home and spoke highly of the staff. She would
give special thanks to Kathy Jenaczo for assuring her stay and to
all the caring people at the home who treated her like family. If
Ruth were here, she would give special thanks to her neighbor and
good friend, Stanley Woltman. He was one of Ruth's greatest
blessings, a caring and faithful friend who visited her at the
Milton Home and took her to lunch anytime she wanted. Stan kept
her informed to the happenings at Holy Cross and of friends who
had passed on. Ruth remembered all these people and their lives.
Ruth was a generous person who gave to many organizations and
charities throughout her lifetime. She was a woman of great
faith. God blessed her with only a short illness. The last day of
her life she prayed "This is the Day the Lord has made. Let
us rejoice and be glad!" A Mass of Christian Burial will be
held at 11:00 a.m. today, February 27th in Holy Cross Catholic
Church with Father Brad Metz officiating and burial will follow
in Highland Cemetery. Friends may visit one hour prior to Mass in
the Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Cross
Church or St. Vincent DePaul society. The Welsheimer Family
Funeral Home assisted with arrangements. In honor of Ruth, Let us
Rejoice and be Glad. E-mail condolence may be made at welshfh@yahoo.com
