Florence E. Sebasty, 93, of Miller's
Merry Manor, New Carlisle, Ind., died at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Jan.
18, in the nursing home. She was born on March 24, 1907, in Olive
Township to the late Lizzie (Wood) and Lawrence House.
On Aug. 27, 1927, in St. Joseph County,
Ind., as Florence E. House, she married Leslie Sebasty Sr., who
preceded her in death in August 1980. Florence was also preceded
in death by two sons, Paul and Carl. She is survived by a
daughter, Martha Milliken and her husband Don of South
Bend, Ind.; three sons, Kenneth and his wife Elaine, Dennis and
his wife, Diane and Leslie N. Sebasty Jr. and his wife, Rebekah,
all of New Carlisle; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren;
and by a sister, Lois Jesswein of Niles, Mich.

made a living working on their farm. She attended a one room
schoolhouse in Warren Township through eight grade, then attended
South Bend Central High School where she graduated in 1925. After
graduation she found employment at O'Brien Paint Company where
she was a typist. She was a member of the Widening Horizon Club
and was a member of the Ladies Aid of Lydick United Methodist
Church, where she attended church. She spent time at the Bend of
the River Economics Club of Berrien Springs, Mich., and enjoyed
crocheting and embroidery.
Services will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 22, in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William Street, South Bend. Rev. Kevin Buckley from Lydick United Methodist Church will conduct the services. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday in the funeral home. Burial will be at Galien Cemetery, Galien, Mich. The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Lydick United Methodist Church Handicap Fund, 26510 Edison Road, South Bend, IN 46628.
