Robert S. Scovil, 88, of Country Side
Nursing Home in Mishawaka, Ind., passed away on Saturday, March
11, in Memorial Hospital. Mr. Scovil was born on March 7, 1912,
in Cowden, Ill., to the late Guy and Etta Scovil, and had lived
in South Bend most of his life. He retired in 1977 from the
Bendix Corporation as a supervisor. On June 18, 1949, he married
the former Antoinette Ullrich, who preceded him in death
on Dec. 29, 1995. He is survived by two daughters, Mary Beth Kozak
of Osceola, Ind., and Suzanne Scovil of Glennville, Ga.; a son,
Philip (Eiko) Hilton of Mishawaka; four grandchildren; and
by a sister, Isabelle Brink of Coraopolis, Pa.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 16, in the KANIEWSKI Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Ind., with burial to follow at Southlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15, in the KANIEWSKI Funeral Home. Mr. Scovil was a World War II Army veteran, a member of the American Legion Post #284, VFW #1167, the Bendix Retiree's Club and a graduate of the Sparks Business College in Illinois.
