Sister Marie Picta Scott CSC, 97, of
Saint Mary’s Convent, died at 1:25 p.m. Thursday in her
residence. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the
Holy Cross on Feb. 10, 1923 in Indianapolis; was received as a
novice on Aug. 15, 1923; and professed her vows on Aug. 15, 1925.
She was born Sept. 28, 1895 as Stella Mary Scott. She was
assigned to St. Mary’s College as dean of women from 1935 to
1938 and taught English at College of St. Mary of the Wasatch in
Salt Lake City, until retiring in 1969. She was a graduate of St.
Mary’s College.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in
the Church of Our Lady of Loretto with burial in Our. Lady of
Peace Cemetery, both at St. Mary’s. Friends may call after 3
p.m. today in the convent parlors where a wake will be at 7 p.m.
