Francis J. Scott
Francis Scottie J. Scott, 83, of South Bend, IN, died at 12:48 p.m. Wednesday, December 13, 2006, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, IN. He retired in 1972 from Ward Baking Co. following 23 years in route sales and management. He then went to work for Bodey Company Food Broker and retired in 1992. Mr. Scott was born on September 4, 1923 in Pulaski County to Clyde E. and Clarice (Howe) Scott and has lived in South Bend since 1947 coming from Winamac, IN.
On May 10, 1947 in Winamac, IN. he married
Mary Vonda Kientz, who preceded him in death on December
18, 2002. Mr. Scott is survived by one daughter, Barbara (Howard)
McKeever of Angola, IN; three sons, John (Kathy) Scott of
South Bend, Jim (Christine) Scott of Angola and Joe (Diane )
Scott of Dayton, OH; eleven grandchildren, Chris (Lisa) Williams,
Kelle (Dee) Henderson, Amy (Rob) Briney, Blair
(Lori) Scott, Zach McKeever, Megan McKeever,, Brad Scott, Derek
Scott, Ben Scott, Molly Scott and Michael Scott; one sister,
Betty M. Cramer of Winamac; and one brother, Robert (Jean)
Scott of Rochester. He was preceded in death by four sisters,
Eula Plank, Lova Garrigues, Thelma Fagner
and Wilma Jean Scott; and two brothers, Wilbur L. and Clyde E.
Scott, Jr.
Mr. Scott was a member of Little Flower
Catholic Church, South Bend. He served in the United States Army
during World War II from 1942-1945. Mr. Scott was a Super
Volunteer giving his time and talents to many people. He
was a volunteer at the Center for the Homeless; served as a legal
guardian for Logan Center; volunteer for St. Vincent DePaul
Society; a member of Nocturnal Adoration Society; Barney Barth
Retreat Group; Bethage Mission where he served as a member of the
Human Rights Committee; and was an active resident at Tanglewood
Trace.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m.
Monday, Dec. 18, 2006 at Little Flower Catholic Church, 54191 N.
Ironwood, South Bend. Rev. Don Guertin, C.S.C. will officiate.
Graveside services and burial will follow in Highland Cemetery,
South Bend. The family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m.
Sunday at Little Flower Church where a Eulogy Service will be at
6 p.m. Friends may also call one hour prior to services on Monday
at the church. Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, South Bend is
assisting the family with arrangements. Contributions in memory
of Francis J. Scott may be made to Center for the Homeless, 813
S. Michigan, South Bend, IN 46601 or to St. Vincent DePaul
Society, 3408 Ardmore Trail, South Bend, IN 46628. Finally, a
heartfelt thanks to the employees and the residents at Tanglewood
Trace for providing many new friendships in his home away from
home.
