MISHAWAKA - Cecil L. Schweisberger, 85, of Mishawaka, passed away
on December 10th in his residence surrounded by his family. Cecil
was born in Mishawaka on October 13, 1924, to the late Edgar G.
and Elsie J. (Foeckler) Schweisberger. Cecil served his country
during WWII, serving in the Army, along the European Theatre. He
was honorably discharged in the spring of 1946. On June 29, 1946,
in the First United Methodist Church, he married Marjorie
Hoskins. Cecil worked at Dodge Manufacturing, as a machinist,
retiring in 1982 after 19 years. He was a lifelong member of VFW
Post #360 and the Albright United Methodist Church. Cecil enjoyed
wood-working, fishing, gardening and playing cards. He was an
avid fan of basketball, enjoying many Indiana Hoosier games.
Cecil is survived by his loving wife, Marjorie, and his son, Joel
(Karen) Schweisberger of South Bend. He is also survived by two
granddaughters, Sarah Beth (Nate) Troyer of South Bend and
Valarie Nicole Schweisberger of Syracuse, NY; along with two
sisters, Phyllis Sterchi of South Bend and Shirley Showalter of
Goshen. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and
Gerald Schweisberger; and two sisters, Joyce Nelson and Evelyn
Walker. A memorial service honoring Cecil's life will be held at
11 a.m. Tuesday, December 15th, in the Albright United Methodist
Church, 504 W. Mishawaka Ave., with Rev. Warren Kirkwood
officiating. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to
the memorial service. Bubb Funeral Chapel is assisting the family
with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may
be made to either the Albright United Methodist Church, 504 W.
Mishawaka Ave., or to Hospice of St. Joseph County, 111
Sunnybrook Court, South Bend.
